Newest Children at Jully Oprhanage

Despite the current difficulty in providing for 27 children, Jully Orphanage could not turn away three more children left abandoned. Malnourished and sick, it has been a long journey for the siblings. You would hardly recognize the youngest, Emanuella, had you seen her three months ago. Her two older brothers are doing wonderfully, enjoying their new friends at the orphanage. It may still take some time to adjust to their new lifestyle, but we hope they feel loved and at home at Jully Orphanage.

Finally an Opportunity for School

img_4647Thanks to recent donations, Jully Orphanage finally has the opportunity to hire a teacher for the children. The picture to the left shows the kids dressed in uniform, as is customary in Haitian schools. Sitting at benches in the church, the children read and write with donated supplies. According to UNICEF, total adult literacy in Haiti is only 48%. Without education, the children are destined for a future similar to their own parents: unable to make an income to provide for their children.

We are very excited to have started an educational program for the children, however it costs $72/month. Without continuous support, the orphanage cannot afford to hire a teacher.
