Thanks to recent donations, Jully Orphanage finally has the opportunity to hire a teacher for the children. The picture to the left shows the kids dressed in uniform, as is customary in Haitian schools. Sitting at benches in the church, the children read and write with donated supplies. According to UNICEF, total adult literacy in Haiti is only 48%. Without education, the children are destined for a future similar to their own parents: unable to make an income to provide for their children.
We are very excited to have started an educational program for the children, however it costs $72/month. Without continuous support, the orphanage cannot afford to hire a teacher.
